Every dog is special. But it’s not just their personality. Every dog has unique nutrition needs based on their breed, size, shape, activity level and many other factors. The best way to help your dog be the best version of themselves is to build a healthy, balanced bowl that’s a combination of grains, vegetables, proteins, hydrators and supplements that are specific to your pet.

When you build a bowl here at Volhard, you will start with the choice of foundation mix. For better planning, it’s helpful to think about the dog you plan to feed and their issues first. This is where you can determine the "personality" of your bowl.

Build-a-Bowl is a fun way to find out what the nutritional value is in a bowl of Volhard! Then you will be asked to add a protein for a delectable super-powered meal for your dog!

    Rescue Diet

Posted by Gwen Williams on Feb 4th 2022

Rescue Diet has surely rescued my yellow lab Raegan from continuing down a bad road. She has had a history of ear infections, and had to have ear ablation surgery a few years ago to remove her badly damaged ear canal (damaged from a lifetime of infections). I found The Rescue Diet from a breeder who uses it on one of her dogs, and I decided to give it a try with my Raegan. She has lost weight since starting it (as she needed to) and her ear she has left has never looked better! She is back to being her happy self, and I know it is because of this food. My only negative is that I didn’t find it sooner!

My 16 yr old PomX had very bad skin and gut and coat loss problems. I tried him on a variety of frozen organic foods, none of which helped. He started refusing to eat. I ordered Rescue put him on it and he loved it. He has been on it 8 months now and is thriving. He has pep in his step and is very happy.

    Saved my pup

After many years and countless amounts of money spent at the vet, I decided to do some major research. My pitty has severe food and environmental allergies and systemic yeast issues. Constant ear infections, yeasty paws that she chewed and licked until raw and hairless, itchy red belly. Nothing was working to relieve her distress. I stumbled upon Volhard while researching. I figured after all the money I’ve already spent, couldn’t hurt to try this. All I can say is this.....THANK YOU! It took a few weeks but the rescue diet has changed her. No more smelly red feet. The hair grew back. Only occasional ear issues. Red belly is gone. This stuff is worth every penny! If your dog is suffering, this just might be what you need. Thank you Volhard!

    Allergies

Posted by Penny on Jan 17th 2022

I had my dog on apoquel for 7 years and she was beginning to have some adverse side effects of the drug. After a holistic consultation I took her off the apoquel and we began the RESCUE diet along with Lamb meat. So far my girl is doing pretty well. She likes the food and her allergies seem to be under control right now.. We will see in the spring if it is still helping the allergies or if we will have to add Cytopoint shots to help out.

    Great product!

My golden retriever has cancer on her liver which has metastasized to her lungs. I wanted to try the cancer diet as described in HGHD but needed help in how to implement it. Jennifer, my nutritional consult person, suggested the Rescue diet with modifications to the ratio of Rescue to the meat to create a low carb high protein and fat diet. (The Rescue diet was not around when Wendy wrote the book.) Right from day 1 my dog absolutely loves it! It has been 3 weeks since we've been using Rescue. Jennifer gave me a diet I can manage, knowing that the herbs and low carb veggies in Rescue are giving my dog a shot at fighting cancer even in this advanced state. Carly eats her meals with relish and still enjoys her walks. Thank you Volhard!

Volhard products are excellent and I recommend them to many people having a physical problem with their dogs. It has been a life saver for two of my dogs, one with protein losing enteropathy and the other with severe gastro issues. So very happy to be able to buy this quality food without having to physically create the homeopathic food at home.

    Love this food!

Posted by Laura on Jun 11th 2021

I rarely give reviews, but we have had a complete transformation with our Mini Bernedoodle since starting him on this food. Before the rescue diet, he had major GI issues causing us to go to the vet every few weeks resulting in him being on medicine and a bland diet for weeks at a time. This went on for months! After taking him to our trainer, she suggested switching him to a raw diet and this food in particular…it has been life changing! He has not had one GI issue since and his coat is beautiful! I absolutely love this food, and recommend it to anyone that has encountered the same issues we have!
