Build a Bowl
Every dog is special. But it’s not just their personality. Every dog has unique nutrition needs based on their breed, size, shape, activity level and many other factors. The best way to help your dog be the best version of themselves is to build a healthy, balanced bowl that’s a combination of grains, vegetables, proteins, hydrators and supplements that are specific to your pet.
When you build a bowl here at Volhard, you will start with the choice of foundation mix. For better planning, it’s helpful to think about the dog you plan to feed and their issues first. This is where you can determine the "personality" of your bowl.
Build-a-Bowl is a fun way to find out what the nutritional value is in a bowl of Volhard! Then you will be asked to add a protein for a delectable super-powered meal for your dog!
Feeding Guidelines Are Per Day
1. PUT NDF2 INTO A DOG BOWL
2. ADD PROTEIN AND WATER
3. MIX AND SERVE
DAYS 1-5 : NDF2, raw or lightly cooked meat (80/20 beef recommended), and water
DAY 6 : Use an alternative protein source such as mackerel, salmon, greek yogurt, cottage cheese or sardines in water
DAY 7 - half day fast : Rest from food to cleanse the digestive system. Puppies and senior dogs should not be fasted
Puppy Feeding Guidelines

NDF2 can be stored unopened in a cool dry place for up to 1 year. After opening,
NDF2 must be stored in the fridge or freezer and is good for 6 months after opening.
The Transition
Add a small amount of NDF2 and protein to the current diet you are feeding your dog now and mix with water. As the week progresses, gradually increase the amount of NDF2, protein, and water, at the same time decreasing the current diet by a corresponding amount, until you have phased out the current diet. (If you are feeding the same protein for six days, you may want to feed another protein - canned mackerel or cottage cheese - on the seventh day.) At the end of the transition period, weigh your dog. Weigh them again after four weeks. Increase or decrease the amount you feed accordingly.
Recommended Protein: 80/20 beef.

I started my 8 year old Labrador on NDF2 about a year ago. Not only does he look amazing but his energy level is better than ever! His stools are so much healthier and smaller which tells me his body is using all of the nutrients. He’s been doing so well that I’ve put my 2 hound mixes on it also. All their digestive issues are gone and they finally love to eat! I just adopted a young lab with renal dysplasia and have started her on the a.m. p.m. crumble which is a 2 part low phosphorus food. It’s been 3 weeks today and not only does she love to eat, she looks and acts like a well dog. I’m hoping this food allows us to keep her feeling well as long as we have her. I’ve had a lot of dogs and have tried a lot of diets. The Volhard diets are by far the best! I thank you and my dogs thank you too!!

Natural diet 2
So far this food is everything I had hoped it would be! I travel extensively with two dogs that do scent detection. I have been feeding a raw diet for the last twenty years so an ice chest (cooler) is just part of my vehicle. To provide a balanced diet while on the road long term can be tough both to carry and cost. Both of my girls took to the diet right from the start. I have only been using it for one week today and see quite a difference! My senior dog, a GSD/Belgian Mal of nearly twelve years has more energy again. She is bright both in her face but especially her eyes. That is a pleasure to see. My current working dog, a four year old lab, is quite and energetic and in working terms a high drive dog. When she started the diet she had a few skin issues that are all ready clearing up! Her coat is glossy and softer. The best thing I’ve noticed is that her focus seems to be improving. She has always been a good worker and always focused but now less frantic and more thoughtful. I hope to see her better handle heat as well as improved endurance. So far, I am thrilled with what I see in my girls, the ease of carrying and handling this food, and the changes I am seeing in both of my working partners.

I am in love with this food. Not only is it awesome for my dog?,my dogs love it to. I no longer have to play a guessing game on what food is good for them only to toss it away. I have not wasted a even a small amount. They actually dance for their food and go directly to there crate to be fed. They lick their bowls clean. They are happier and healthier. I will never buy store bought junk anymore. This food is worth every dime.

NDF2 Minimizes Duke's Seizures
My granddaughter adopted a special needs dog a couple of years ago. Duke has epilepsy. She has had him on the NDF2 diet for most of that time. During that time she has tried to switch to a kibble diet 2 times. The first time, he started having seizures regularly so, she put him back on the NDF2. She wasn't quite sure if it was because of the quality of the kibble that caused him to have more seizures or just not having the NDF2. About 3 months ago she tried to switch him again, but this time made sure the kibble was high quality. During this transition time, for the first time, I witnessed him having 3 seizures. It was very upsetting for me, very scary, and just plain awful to see this poor guy go through this. I immediately ordered more NDF2. Since getting back on the NDF2, he has not had any seizures. It is really amazing and evident how diet affects Duke. He will definitely be on NDF2 for life!

Switched our 2 English Springer Spaniels over to a raw diet about a month and a half ago. NFD2 along with raw protein has our "kids" looking fitter than ever. The female was a picky eater before but now just devours her meals. We expect that the skin and ear issues we had with the Male will disappear. We serve it on Mine pet platters and the kids love it.

A trainer who was working with our 2 English Springer Spaniels on behavioral issues recommended that we transition to NDF2. She started the process and we are continuing. We expect that their skin issues will disappear as well as issues with their ears. We already notice a big difference in their stools. They have initially lost some weight but appear to be healthier. We'll know more as we get further in the process. They love it and devour it. The girl was a picky eater but no more.

Started our Lab puppy on the NDF 2, he is now 9 months. The biggest thing I have noticed after is his demeanor. He is full of energy but not out of control. He can be calm when asked to be and seems satisfied. He doesn’t seem to need as much water. His coat is smooth and soft. We are very pleased with NDF 2.
