gemmi-400.pngNDF AM Porridge is part one of a two-part dehydrated foundation mix (AM/PM) which allows maximum control over ingredient freshness and vegetable choice. It can be fed in the morning if your dog's most active time is in the evening or in the evening if your dog is most active during the day. This diet is designed to be fed with PM Crumble.

The Volhard Dog Nutrition Original Natural Diet AM/PM was formulated to exceed the nutritional levels established by the NRC and AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages, including the growth of large size dogs.

Oats, Buckwheat Groats, Safflower Oil, Molasses, Dried Whole Egg, Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin E, Latobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation (Yogurt powder), Montmorilonite Clay, Calcium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Diatomaceous Earth, Yucca Schidegera, Chelated Zinc, Manganese, Iron, Copper and Cobalt, Vitamin B Complex consisting of - Choline Chloride, Niacin, Riboflavin, Calcium Pantothenate, Thiamin Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride and Biotin, Vitamin D3, Sodium Selenite, Vitamin K, Vitamin A.

Each dog is an individual with different lifestyles and metabolisms. The following are only guidelines. Before putting your dog on the AM/PM diet, weigh him or her. The amounts listed are for dogs that get about 2 hours of exercise a day. If your dog starts to put on weight, cut back on the breakfast meal, feed the new amount for a week, then re-weigh him or her. Adjust accordingly.

HOW MUCH TO FEED  |  C=Cup, T= Tablespoon

1.  Put Porridge into a dog bowl.

2.  Add vegetables, yogurt, water

3.  Mix and serve!

Put vegetables through a food processor, chop or lightly steam. Here are some vegetables we recommend using, as long as your dog can tolerate them. If using a combination of vegetables, use 50% root vegetables and 50% green leafy vegetables.

Change vegetables seasonally.

how-to-change-dog-food.jpgAdd a small amount of AM (veggies and yogurt) and/or PM (meat) to the kibble you are feeding your dog now and mix with water. As the week progresses, gradually increase the amount of the diet at each mealtime, veggies, yogurt, meat, and water as appropriate while at the same decreasing the kibble by a corresponding amount, until you have phased out the kibble. (If you are feeding the same meat protein for six days, you may want to feed another protein - canned mackerel or cottage cheese - on the seventh day.) At the end of the transition period, weigh your dog. Weigh him again after four weeks. Increase or decrease the amount you feed accordingly.

Recommended Protein: 80/20 beef.

AM and PM are dehydrated products.

Puppies through teething (7 weeks-7 months) are fed four times a day. Puppies need to be fed twice their weight because of rapid growth, i.e. If you have a 12-lb puppy use the guideline for a 25-lb dog. Divide the breakfast into two meals, and feed one at 8am and the other at noon. Do the same for the evening meal following directions for a 25lb dog and divide the meal in half. Feed one at 4pm and the other at 8 pm. When they are through teething, reduce feeding to three times a day. Around 6-7 months, reduce to two feedings that will continue throughout the life of your pet. Gradually increase the amount you feed as your puppy grows. Dogs go through growth spurts up until 2 years of age and you may have to increase the amount fed for a short period of time.

review of A.M. Porridge 20 pound bag

We like the porridge and our dog is healthy from eating it. It got rid of any digestive problems. We also love the picture of the doggy on the 20 pound bag, the adorable Staffordshire Terrier!!!
